"Can you?" & "Let Me Think..."

If you want something done... ask a busy person. Busy people have so many plates spinning that adding one more doesn't seem to bother them.

Busy people are often checklist lovers. In fact, they will write things on their checklist AFTER they've completed their task, just to check it off. If you ask a busy person, "Can you____fill in the blank___?" there's a good chance they'll do it.

Sometimes a busy person needs coaching.

Busy people aren't going to fundamentally change who they are--and who would want them to, they get so much done!--but the words "Let me think about it" need to be programed into the short-term memory bank of today's busy person. And once it's programmed in, they need to practice.

Many busy people can't slow down. Trust me, they've tried, but they simply can't stop or find a way to help themselves. They know they are supposed to slow down, or say "No," or to prioritize and cross things off their list... but they are too busy!

The first small step a busy person can take is to say "Let me think about it..."

With training, saying "Let me think about it...", even if the answer will eventually be "Yes", a busy person gains control over the situation--and that potential bullet point on their long to-do list.

You don't have to say "Yes" or "No" -- try saying "Let me think about it!"

And if you need help, give me a call.
